Julia Sturvist has been selected as the new Main Street/DDA Director, succeeding Ingrid Miller, who left last month to take a job in Grand Rapids.
Sturvist received her bachelor’s degree in public and non-profit administration and will graduate with her master’s degree in public administration this December. She comes to Wayland with a background in municipal government having served as the assistant to the village manager and code enforcement officer for the Village of Sparta.
“She is eager to utilize her experience and education in community and economic development, local government planning, urban/regional design, historic preservation, and downtown development in general to best serve the Wayland community,” said City Manager Josh Eggleston.
When asked about her new position, she replied, “I am so honored and couldn’t be happier to be granted this opportunity. I have a passion for community and economic growth and truly believe that downtown development and preservation can create a lasting positive impact for a community and its residents.”
Sturvist’s first day was Thursday, July 11.
