Kadence Bottrall is nearing the end of her impressive career on the Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team with her fourth appearance in the individual state championships.
Kadence finished in first place Friday in the individual Division 2 regional tournament at Spectrum Lanes in Grand Rapids. She rocked out games of 209, 247, 249, 247, 170, and 195 for a 1317 total – beating all the boys as well!
The senior standout made the cut for state in her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons as well, taking third place a year ago after losing the eventual state champion. Had she won that match, she would have rolled against teammate Bella Harnish for the individual state title.
Bottrall owns the school record high individual game at 299. She is seeking to become Wayland’s second state champion, as Sidney Urban accomplished that feat in 2018.
Kadence is the daughter of head coach Eric Bottrall.
Other Lady Wildcats scores were:
•25th place – Haven Baker (sophomore) 143, 120, 171, 163, 137, 154.
• 26th place – Izzy Botwinski (junior) 148, 149, 125, 176, 157, 131.

The Lady Wildcats finished fourth in the team regionals behind Allegan, Charlotte and Mason. All three were ranked in the top 10 in the state.
Meanwhile, the Wayland boys just had fun with the top six game total of 1304 and the cut score was 1132. They won’t be in the state individual tourney, but they are one of three regional teams to make the cut for state next weekend at Waterford.
