Kateleen Balfoort

Kateleen Balfoort has been selected as new finance director deputy city manager for the City of Wayland, according to announcement this week by City Manager Josh Eggleston.

“The city welcomes her and looks forward to having the skill set she brings to our team,” Eggleston said.

He said Balfoort has been working in the accounting field for more than 20 years.

Her salary will be $90,000 per year.

“With more than 17 years working directly in municipal government positions, including previous experience as a finance director, and most recently working as an auditor of local government and non-profits, she brings a wide range of experience that will benefit the city,” Eggleston said.

“Being a long-time resident of the city, she is excited to be able to serve her community in this role.”

She succeeds Cheri Parrish, who was fired last February.

Why was Ms. Parrish fired? Being a public servant paid with our taxes, was she fired for something nefarious? Or was it personality clashes with the city manager? It should be transparent to the taxpayers.
