The O-K Silver Conference, already plagued with a football scheduled pared by the loss of three teams, now has lost a fourth.
It was announced Monday that Kelloggsville, which was to be Hopkins’ opponent for a home game Oct. 18, has decided to terminate its 2019 football season. The Rockets last Friday evening were pummeled by Belding 56-6 and they haven’t won a game all season in six games.
Wyoming Lee, NorthPointe Christian and Calvin Christian earlier this year announced they would not compete in the O-K Silver Conference because of a lack of numbers and a lack of success.
Therefore, the only teams left in the Silver are Hopkins, Belding and Wyoming Godwin Heights.
Coach Cody Francis’ Vikings are scheduled to play this Friday at Belding, but there has been no report what will be done about the now open date Friday, Oct. 18. It was supposed to be the traditional annual Parents’ Night for Hopkins.
The Vikings will close out the regular season Friday, Oct. 25, with a non-league contest in Petoskey against Menominee.
