Korean Conflict veteran John Millard dies at age 91

John “Jack” Millard, age 91, died Tuesday, Feb. 1.

John retired from DTE Energy as a section leader after 30 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting, and had many adventures in Alaska, Canada and the Upper Peninsula.

He was a talented musician and a true “Jack of all Trades.”

John served our county in the Korean conflict.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Alice Millard; children Jon (Janet) Millard, Jim (Joan) Millard, Ruth (Craig) Smith, Sue (Ed) Hillyer, Mary (Dave) Cook, Marjorie (Ken) Medja, Mark (Deborah) Millard, Betty (Scott) Flak; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; siblings Karl (Jean) Millard, Ben McGrew; longtime friends Tom and Arlene Robinson; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by sister, Marjorie McGrew.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, with an hour of visitation prior at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr. Pastor Lance Laker will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan County.
