The Wayland boys’ varsity bowling team continued to show improvements, even though its lost 22.5 to 7.5 to South Christian Wednesday afternoon at Spectrum Lanes.

The Lady Wildcats, meanwhile, had a cakewalk, winning 27-3 as South had only three players.

Boys’ coach Sherry Miklusicak said South Christian was well over its average in the first and second baker games and nearly shot 1000 in the first set of individual matches.

Senior Max Oosterhouse took both of his match points. Also taking match points were Junior Deven Gardner with a terrific 199 game (opened in the tenth frame) and one-half point for Stephen Harnish with a tie.

“Our boys set a new season high record with a 897 game,” the coach said. “We took total pins for that match! The boys also had 802 in the first match. It was the first time this season where both games were over 800.”

Oosterhouse rolled a 192 and Deven Gardner 199.

Stephen Harnish had a 175 and 172. “He is rolling the ball so much nicer and is really becoming more accomplished in his spare shooting.”

Mark Musgrave had 211 and 193, which are great games. “It is tough to be the anchor bowler as you are bowling against the other team’s best.”

High game for Wayland girls was sophomore Kadence Bottrall’s 226. Taking match points were Haley Taylor (took both match points with a 159 high game), Breanna Hyde 133, Bella Harnish (took both match points with a high game of 183) and Kadence (took both match points).
