The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team this weekend finished 17th at the Division 2 state bowling tournament and two Wildcats rolled in the individual state tourney.

Freshman Kadence Bottrall placed ninth in the individual competition and Bella Harnish was 51st.

“I’m so proud of this group of ladies,” said coach Eric Bottrall. “To be O-K Gold Conference champs, finish second at regionals, then this weekend our ladies got to bowl at the state finals for the first time since 2011.

“We have a long way to go, but I know we will be back next year even more prepared,” the coach added. “The future is bright and I can’t be more excited to see how far we can get this group to go next year. I wanna thank my players, our parents, (boys’ team coach Sherry) Mrs. Miklusicak and the amazing staff at Rock ‘N Bowl Wayland…  I’m honored to say I get to coach at the school I graduated from.”
