The Martin girls’ basketball team has earned a berth in the regional finals Thursday evening.
The Clippers defeated Wyoming Potter’s House 50-28 in the Class D regional semifinal round Tuesday night at Burr Oak High School.
The Lady Clippers built a lead and were able to maintain it. It really came as no surprise for Martin faithful because in their home opener, the Lady Clippers powered past Potter’s House 59-16.
Similar to that opener, Martin had control at takeoff, up 17 to 1 after the first and 29 to 7 at the half.
Faith Guritz had a dynamic scoring run, leading her team with 18 points. Kiaya Warner notched a solid 14 and Jaclyn Hildebrand supported with 13 points.
Potter’s House had a modest offensive effort that was headed by Junior Germaine Hounakey with 12 points.
Martin (13-10) will hunt its first regional title since 1995 on Thursday evening. Potter’s House ended its season with a 13-11 record overall.
The Lady Clippers will take on Athens (20-4), which Tuesday night defeated St. Joseph Michigan Lutheran (20-4), in the regional finals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Burr Oak.
