The Hopkins girls’ varsity cross-country team came in second again at an O-K Silver Conference jamboree and the boys finished fourth.

The race Wednesday was hosted by the Vikings at the Gun Laker Tribe’s Camp Jijak on 20th Street in Hopkins Township.

Senior Neveah Helderop completed the 5K course in seventh place to pace Hopkins girls. Sophomore Kambria Moored and Jaeden Harshbarger also made the top 10 for the day, taking ninth and 10th places, respectively.

Alison Breining finished 20th and Abigail Zalis was 28th.

Grandville Calvin Christian again won the league competition.

Freshman Jack Estelle paced the Viking boys by taking 13th, Kenyon Katje was 25th, Nathan Onderlinde 35th, Vijay DeZeeuw 43rd and Johnathon Buskirk 45th.

It was the first time the Viking boys and girls competed in 16 days. They will be back in action Saturday morning at Otsego.
