It wasn’t a good night for both Hopkins basketball teams vs. Grandville Calvin Christian Tuesday.

The Lady Vikings absorbed their first O-K Silver Conference loss of the season, 59-56, in overtime, setting up a showdown at NorthPointe Christian Friday. Hopkins now is 8-1 in league play, NorthPointe is 7-2 and Calvin Christian is 6-3. Belding now is 5-4 after an upset loss against Sparta.

The Lady Vikings now are 11-5 overall.

The Hopkins guys came up short 62-54 to see their record slip to 11-5 overall and 5-4 the Silver.

Tristen Perry led all scorers with 26 points. Trent Baugh added 10 and Jayden Prather 7.

“Our scrappy defense held CC well below their average,” commented coach Jake Jewett. “We led 37-33 going into the fourth quarter, but we just couldn’t hang on. I’m proud of the way we gave CC our best shot and left it all out on the floor.”
