The Hopkins girls’ varsity baskMeghan Schulzetball team defeated Northpointe Christian 46-30 Tuesday evening in an O-K Silver Conference matchup.

Sophomore pivot Meghan Schulz scored 17 points and senior Bailey Ballard counted 16, as the Lady Vikings improved their season record to 6-10.

Though Hopkins led 10-6 after one quarter, the Mustangs went on an 8-3 run in the second period to lead 14-13 at the half. The Lady Vikings took over the ballgame in the latter two quarters and held Northpointe to just four points in the last eight minutes.

Hopkins will complete the regular season Friday at Kelloggsville and then compete in the Class B district tournament Wednesday, March 2, against either Plainwell or Allegan. If the Vikings can win the opener, they’ll meet Otsego, the only team in the district with a winning record, in the finals Friday, March 4.
