TheHopkins softball Hopkins girls’ varsity softball team opened O-K Silver Conference play this season with a powerful 15-0 blasting of Wyoming Kelloggsville Monday in a game that lasted only three innings because of the mercy rule.

The victory lifted the Lady Vikings’ overall season record to 8-2.

Hailey Burch threw all three innings and had three strikeouts, no walks and gave up no hits to Kelloggsville, which only received the benefit of an error to avoid a three-inning perfect game.

On the offensive side of the ball, Kelley Kloska drilled two singles, Morgan Fifelski had a triple with two RBIs, Kristi Lenard had a triple with three RBIs.

The Lady Vikings scored six times in both the first and second innings.
