The Hopkins varsity volleyball team lost in the semifinal round of the Zeeland Invitational Tournament Saturday.

The Lady Vikings, who won three tournament championships earlier this season, suffered their only losses at the hands of Class A opponents Hudsonville and Grandville.

They bested Zeeland East 25-14 and 25-22, Greenville 21-25, 25-19 and 17-15 and Kenowa Hills 25-19, 21-25 and 15-8 in pool play, but lost 28-26 and 25-18 to Grandville, rated honorablemention this season in Class A. Hopkins defeated Cedar Springs 25-21 and 25-18 in the quarterfinal round, but then fell to second-ranked Hudsonville 25-16 and 25-18 in the semifinals.

Statistically for the day, Corrie Wisser had 70 assists and Lindsey Bulich 45. Brianna Miller nailed 59 kills Wisser added 15, Bulich, Natasja Terpstra and Natalie McDonald each had 10.

McDonald had seven blocks and Wisser six. Miller served up seven aces, Wisser six and Ashley Bultema and Evangelina Helderop five apiece. Miller came up with 57 digs, Bultema 54, Bulish 35, Wisser 27, Helderop 25, Emma Matonosi 23 and Payton Nichols 13.

The Lady Vikings now own a 30-6-4 overall record and are 1-0 in O-K Silver Conference competition after defeating Belding.
