Lady Vikings claim 4th consecutive victory, now 5-9 overall

The biggest sports stories in Hopkins this winter have been the turnarounds for the boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams.

Both teams got off to terrible starts in December, but since the holiday break have shown signs of being not only very competitive, but also winning.

While the boys evened their season record at 7-7 Friday evening at the expense of Wyoming Lee, the girls followed suit by beating the visiting Rebels 74-30 to improve their season record to 5-9. It was their fourth consecutive win. Not bad for a team that started at 0-7.

The Lady Vikings wasted no time in taking it to Lee, grabbing a 13-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter and extending it to 24-14 at intermission and pulled away in the second half. A season first was that three Hopkins players scored in double figures. Kerissa Glascott had her finest offensive night thus far with 14 points. Baylee Roys contributed 11 and Bailey Ballard 10. Close behind were Allie DeBoer and Brianna Handee with nine apiece.
