The Hopkins girls’ varsity track team captured nine first-place finishes in the 13 events Friday evening at the Watervliet Relays, winning the team competition handily.

The Viking boys, meanwhile, earned six runner-up finishes and eventually wound up second among the seven teams competiing, including the host school, Coloma, Bridgman, Buchanan, Hartford, Martin and Eau Claire.

Championship performances turned in by Lady Vikings:

  • The 4×100-meter relay — Brittney Houseman, Savannah Emaus, Anna Washburn and Nastasja Terpstra, 54.82 seconds.
  • The 4×200 relay — Houseman, Alyssa Rausch, Madeline Krcatovich and Terpstra, 1:55.92.
  • The 4×400 relay — Gracie DeZeeuw, Krcatovich, Cassidy Finney and Laura Velderman, 4:32.69.
  • The 4×800 relay — Jasmine Fisher, Madison Snoeyink, DeZeeuw, Velderman, 11:47.84.
  • The 4×1600 relay — Fisher, Snoeyink, DeZeeuw and Grace Beckwith, 25:12.76.
  • Swedish (100, 200, 300 and 400) — Houseman, Finney, Emaus and Velderman, 2:41.06.
  • The medley relay (800, 400, 400, 800) — Fisher, Krcatovich, DeZeeuw and Velderman, 7:31.55.
  • Shot put relay — Meghan Schulz 35-11 and Shannon Henshaw 27-6.
  • Long jump relay — Houseman 14-5.5 and Emaus 13-7.

The runner-up finishes for the guys included:

  • The 4×100 relay — Carson Timm, Jon Blake, Michael McKenzie and Cole Bergman, 45.97.
  • The medley relay (800, 400, 400, 800) — Brandon DeGroot, Nick Belka, McKenzie and Dan Rausch, 6:14.98.
  • 4×100 shuttle hurdles — Blake, Colten Teunissen, Bergman and Cyrus Miner,55.42.
  • Shot put relay — Nathan Roberts 42-1.5 and Ethan Gilder, 34-11.75.
  • Discus relay — Roberts 107-3 and Andrea Zaghi 99-9.
  • Long jump relay — Trey Collins 18-2 and Logan Blank 17-4.
