Lady Vikings finish 2nd in 1st O-K Silver C-C jamboree

Hopkins girls captured the runner-up slot in the first O-K Silver Conference cross-country jamboree of the season at Lightning Bend Park in Belding.

The Lady Vikings had 66 team points behind first place Sparta in the competition.

The boys’ squad placed fourth in the league meet with 84 points.

Senior Neveah Helderop paced Hopkins with a seventh-place finish in 21:15.8 and teammate Kambria Moored, a sophomore, was right behind her in 21:18.3.

Junior Jaeden Harshberger finished 11^th, freshman Allison Breining had a successful debut at 17^th and junior Abigail Zalis was 24^th.

The highlight of the boys’ meet was an impressive debut by freshman Jack Estelle, who completed the 5,000-meter course in 18:27.3. Sophomore Kenyon Katje was 20^th, Vijay DeZeeuw 38^th, Adam Halsted 39^th and Brennan Villela 40^th.
