The Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball team lost 68-48 to Grandville Calvin Christian Friday night in an O-K Silver Conference matchup.

Junior center Meghan Schulz scored 12 points to lead the Lady Vikings, who fell to 5-12 overall with the loss.

The Squires now are 8-1 in the league standings and 12-6 overall.

The Hopkins boys’ squad, earlier in the evening, dropped a 76-62 decision to Calvin Christian and its season record sank to 7-9 overall.

The Vikings kept it close in the first half, down only 31-29, but Calvin pulled away in the latter 16 minutes. The Vikings were led by freshman Drew Weber with 11 points and sophomore Hunter Lewellyn and senior Justin Weick each had 10. Blake VerBeek led the Squires with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
