Kennedy Helderop had 13 points for Hopkins.

The Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball squad bounced back from Tuesday’s heart-breaking loss to Plainwell and cruised to a 68-46 victory over O-K Silver Conference opponent Belding.

The Lady Vikings pushed their overall season record to 10-5 and they are 6-0 and in first place in the league standings. The loss to Plainwell ended their eight-game winning streak that stretched back to Dec. 12.

Hopkins wasted no time in establishing control of this contest, shooting out to a 22-12 advantage in the opening quarter and they were up 39-23 at intermission.

Hopkins was led by senior center Meghan Schulz with 22 points, senior forward Mikayla Bulich contributed 21 and junior guard Kennedy Helderop counted 13.

Belding was led by Lexi Pilkinton with 11 points.
