Victory at Kelloggsville Tuesday evening was expected for the Hopkins girls’ basketball team, but it was sorely needed.
The Lady Vikings have hit a bad patch in recent games, but they bounced back to defeat the host squad 51-31 to improved their overall season record to 12-6 and their O-K Silver mark to 9-2. They are tied for first place with NorthPointe Christian in the Silver standings.
Hopkins struggled in a league contest at Sparta before prevailing with a fourth quarter surge. The Lady Vikings then lost in overtime to Calvin Christian and was defeated by 14 points by NorthPointe. They had gone through the first swing through the league undefeated.
The Hopkins boys, meanwhile, defeated Kelloggsville 56-39, at home, to improve to 12-6 overall and 6-5 in the O-K Silver. Tristen Perry led all scorers with 24 points.
The Vikings girls and boys are back in action Friday night at home vs. Godwin Heights.
