The Hopkins varsity volleyball team was runner-up Saturday in the Switek Memorial Invitational, falling in the championship match to Hudsonville Unity Christian.

The Lady Vikings ended the day’s competition with a 20-17-2 record for the season overall.

Hopkins defeated Hastings 25-18, 25-14 and Holland 25-19, 25-15 in the opening round of Blue pool play.
The Lady Vikings then bested Fremont 26-28, 25-12, 15-13 in the second round, but then lost to Unity Christian 25-21, 25-20 in a harbinger of the championship later in the day.

Hopkins defeated Holland 25-14, 25-22 in the semifinals before bowing in the finals to Unity,
25-8, 25-16.
