The Hopkins girls’ cross-country team struggled through the huge and star-studded Portage Invitational Saturday, finishing 40th among 44 teams.
Petoskey won with 73 team points and East Grand Rapids was second with 84. Hopkins came in with 1105.
Freshman Hannah Fisher led the Lady Vikings, followed by Alyssa Beilby, Alexis Zalis, Astrid Baandrup and Mary Wells.
The Hopkins boys again did not have enough runners to post a team score. Fremont won with 55.
Adam Ball was timed at 20:27.4 in 270th place. Also competing were Zachary Wisser and Dean Heiden.
