imgThe Hopkins varsity softball team extended its overall season record to 21-9 Friday afternoon and evening with a doubleheader sweep of Middleville Thornapple Kellogg.

The Lady Vikings prevailed 6-3 and 15-2 in the non-conference twin bill.

Morgan Fifelski threw all three innings in the mercy rule shortened nightcap, gave up 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out two.

Ky Winchester had a triple with two RBIs, Hannah VanDeRoovart had a single and a double, Lexi Merren had a home run, single and a double with 4 RBIs. Hailey Burch had a single and a double.

Burch pitched all 7 innings in the opener and gave up 7 hits, had 9Ks, and no walks.

Courtney Dusseau had three singles, VanDeRoovart had a home run with 2 RBIs and Kellie Kloska had a double.

The Lady Vikings will conclude their regular season with a couple of nonleague doubleheaders this week. They’ll be at Allendale Tuesday afternoon and then follow that up at home against Fennville Wednesday.

Hopkins will be shooting for 25 victories for the campaign.
