The Hopkins girls’ varsity soccer team split its first two matches of the season this week, both nonleague contests.
The Lady Vikings opened their season Monday with a 1-0 victory over Comstock Park Monday, but were edged 2-1 at Grand Rapids Covenant Christian.
Amber Caywood scored the only goal in the victory over Comstock Park and Tiffany Barks came up with three saves in goal while posting the shutout.
Arika Hoffman scored the Lady Vikings’ goal Wednesday, with an assist from Heidi Gilder. Barks was credited with eight saves.
