The Hopkins girls’ varsity softball team took two of three encounters Saturday at the Comstock Park Invitational to run its overall season record to 7-2.
The Lady Vikings defeated the host school in the first game in the morning by a 4-3 count, but was edged 6-5 by Holland Christian in their second game. They completed the day’s action by pounding out a 12-4 victory over Saranac.
Morgan Fifelski threw all seven innings against Saranac, recording a strikeout with two walks and a hit batter.
Offensively, Hopkins plated six runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Kyra Winchester had two singles and a triple with one run batted in and scored two runs. Courtney Dusseau had a double and scored twice with an RBI
Hannah VanDeRoovart had a home run and two singles, three RBIs, and scored twice. Lexi Merren had a single and a home run with two RBIs and scored three times Jade Burch had three singles, two RBIs,
Kloska had two singles, an RBI and scored once.
Hailey Burch went the distance on the mound for Hopkins in the loss to Holland Christian.
Winchester had two singles and scored once, Dusseau had a single and a triple, Merren had a double with two RBIs, and Jade Burch had two singles and a double with two RBIs.
Hailey Burch also threw all seven innings in the opener against Comstock Park, and had 3 strikeouts and no walks.
