The Hopkins varsity volleyball team captured the championship Saturday in the Switek Memorial Invitational.

The Lady Vikings bested Hastings 25-13 and 25-20 in the semifinals and turned back Comstock Park in the tightly contested finals, 25-22, 21-25 and 16-14. They and Comstock Park had split earlier in the day in pool play, 21-25 and 25-20..

Hopkins swept all opponents in pool play, including Martin 25-11, 25-7; Hastings 25-23, 25-19; Allegan 25-11, 25-11; Fremont 25-22, 25-17, and Tri-Unity 25-7, 25-18.
Setter Logan Brummel dished out 103 assists; Macy Arndt had 45 kills, Meghan Schulz 36, Brianna Miller 32, Ashley Bultema 17, Brummel and Mikayla Bulich 16; Schulz delivered 10 blocks, Bulich 9, Brummel 7, and Miller 4; Brummel had 21 serving aces, Nicole Pitsch 8, Miller, Bulich and Kennedy Helderop 6;
Hailey Shank 65 digs, Brummel 51, Bulich 39, Pitsch 31, Helderop 27 and Madison Wyngarden 21.

The Lady Vikings’ overall record for the season is now 30-14-3 and their O-K Silver Conference dual match record remains at 3-1.
