Hopkins High School junior Meghan Schulz captured first place in the shot put and second in the discus Friday at the annual Laker Challenge high school track meet at Grand Valley State University.

Schulz, who also stars on the Lady Vikings’ varsity basketball team, was competing in Division 3.

There were no results of the meet posted as of Saturday evening. There were reports that ace sophomore runner Laura Velderman was down with an illness and did not participate.

The Lady Vikings are scheduled to among the teams at the Bridgman Invitational Tuesday, weather permitting.
