Girls-GolfThe Wayland varsity girls’ golf team took third in the first O-K Gold Conference jamboree of the season Thursday at the at Quail Ridge Golf Course.

Leading the way for Wayland was senior ace Ali Martus with a 39, Alexis Kirschbaum with a 54, Hunter Fenton with a 55, and Lauren Drew with a 59.

Martus’ 39 for nine holes was the medalist score for the league jamboree. She has broken 40 for nine holes and broken 80 for 18 holes in all matches thus far this season.

Hastings won the meet with a team score of 184. South Christian was second at 191 and Wayland had a 207. Grand Rapids Catholic Central and Middleville Thornapple Kellogg trailed in fourth and fifth. Ottawa Hills does not field a gold team.

Wayland’s next match will be next Wednesday at Railside Country Club against Byron Center.
