The Wayland varsity girls’ golf team concluded its season Wednesday by finishing fifth in the Division 2 regionals at the Pigeon Creek Golf Course, West Olive.

Only the top three teams in the regional meet qualify for the state tournament at Michigan State University. O-K Gold Conference champion South Christian won the regional crown with an 18-hole score of 363, Hudsonville United Christian was second at 379 and Grand Rapids Catholic Central third at 380. Rayna Honsowitz of Hastings was individual medalist with a 78.

Wayland’s team score was 403, 11 strokes away from fourth-place Middleville Thornapple Kellogg.

Abby Omness carded a team best 90, Laren Drew had a 95, freshman Alaina Tobin a 108 and sophomore Paige Keena a 110.
