The Wayland girls’ junior varsity basketball team improved its season record to 12-5 Tuesday evening in a 47-21 non-league contest at Mattawan.

It was the battle of the Wildcats tonight, Wayland Wildcats vs. Mattawan Wildcats and the Wayland Wildcats outscored the Mattawan Wildcats every quarter,” said coach Coralie Miller. Not only that, but the host team failed to scored in double figures as a team all four periods.
Brinley Nieuwenhuis meshed 12 points to pace Wayland’s offensve attack. Taryn Coughlin had 9 points and 5 rebounds, Jenae Muscheln 2 points and 5 rebounds and Alexis Kirschbaum 6 points.
“We took the ball to the basket well tonight,” Miller added. “We out rebounded them.”

And apparently her team played pretty good defense as well.
