Coach Coralie Ritz Miller’s group absorbed its only loss to Hudsonville in the third game of the season, but since then has reeled off five consecutive victories, over Caledonia, Sparta, Forest Hills Northern, Byron Center and most recently, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg.

The Lady Wildcat jayvees registered a 50-37 triumph at Middleville Thursday night in its O-K Gold Conference season opener. They battled the Trojans to a 13-13 tie after the first quarter and led by just one point, 23-22 at the half. However, they were able to pull away with a 14-6 run in the third period.

Miller said she was very pleased her team’s defense was able to hold Middleville to single-digit scoring in the last three of four quarters.

Total points per player for the last two ballgames, against Byron Center and Thornapple Kellogg, are as follows: Abby Merice 7, Slylar Stora 15, Karley Lamber 2, Jaznae Randall 7, Brandalyn Helderop 7, Grace Dollarhide 7, Kennedy Helderop 8, Mari Biondo 17, Macey Winger 4, Chloe Coughlin 12 and Sam Nieuwkoop 9.
