The Wayland girls’ junioWHS basketballr varsity basketball team lost for the second time this season, 50-35, to a talented Catholic Central opponent.”This time we played a better overall game, although we had a really bad second quarter in which we buried ourselves and couldn’t climb out,” said coach Coralie Miller.
Indeed, the Lady Wildcats were outscored 23-6 in that second period and they fell behind 31-9 at intermission.”We are still working on what it means to finish plays, box-out on every shot, and taking care of the basketball,” Miller said.
“One bright spot is we got to the line 25 times, which means we are attacking the basket well. We are ‘trending’ toward getting to the line more than our opponents (as of late).”

Chloe Coughlin scored eight points, Taryn Coughlin had 7 points 8 rebounds, and Brinley Nieuwenhuis and Sam Nieuwkoop 5 each. Niewkoop also had eight rebounds.

The Lady Wildcats now are 12-6 for the season overall.
