The Wayland girMarissa Bruinsslotls’ varsity bowling team dominated Grand Rapids South Christian from start to finish 29-1 Thursday at Spectrum Lanes and ran its overall season record  to 13-1.

It began with two more solid Baker games, winning both by scores of 157-124 and 170-124 and taking a quick 10-0 lead. The ladies didn’t let up in the first team individual game taking 8 of 9 points in a 813-679 win. Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats were sophomore Marissa Bruinsslot 192, sophomore Sydney Urben 179 and senior Lizzy Cobb 170.

Game two was more of the same, as the Lady Wildcats took down the Sailors 796-579 and earned all of the final 11 points. Second game leading scores were Sydney Urben 188, Marissa Bruinsslot 178, Lizzy Cobb 162 and Junior Erin Porteous 153.

“This was our third straight night having a match, but you couldn’t tell by the way the ladies performed tonight,” said coach Bill Holbrook. “Scores were down slightly, but they were rolling the ball well. It is great to see our Baker games back up where they should be. That will make a big difference for us as we approach the end of the season.

“It was a solid team effort tonight and a welcome couple days of from matches to try to get some things figured out in practice for a few of the girls,” the coach added. “I really like how this team has come together and the progress they are making. They work very hard at their craft and hold themselves to a very high standard. I believe that kind of dedication will really pay off for them.”

The Lady Wildcats now are 9-1 in league play.
