The Wayland varsity softball team advanced to the semifinal round of the post-season Division 2 tournament by blanking Hastings 18-0 Tuesday afternoon in a pre-district contest.

Leading the Wildcats were Bethany Teunissen (4-4 with a triple and a home run), Leigha Morse (2-3 with a double), Taylor Bell (2-3), and Mackenzy Kasper (2-3). Abby Merice also threw a no-hitter for the four innings of play.

The Lady Wildcats, now 22-9 for the season overall and reigning champions of the O-K Gold Conference will take on Allegan in the semifinals Saturday at noon. The district tourney will take place at Allegan.

If Wayland wins the semifinal game, it will take on either Lake Odessa Lakewood or Middleville Thornapple Kellogg in the finals at 2 p.m. Lakewood has been listed on the MHSAA site as having a season record of 17-3 overall.
