The Wayland girls’ varsity cross-country team finished sixth for the second time in the O-K Gold Conference jamboree Wednesday. The boys finished seventh.

The Lady Wildcats had 159 points. East Grand Rapids, one of the top teams in the state, had 25, taking third through eighth places. Grand Rapids Christian had 58 and Forest Hills Eastern 74.

Junior Rylee Cronkright, fresh from her first sub-20 kilometer race last weekend, settled for 13th place with a time of 22:04.86. Senior Zoe Antel was 36th, freshman Haylee Jasinski was 61st, Gracie Hasse was 65th and freshman Sydney Hasse 103rd.

The Lady Wildcats continue to compete without No. 2 runner Naomi Oosterhouse, who is injured.

Junior Ian Russell led the Wildcat boys by finishing 46th with a time of 21:01.75.

Jarod Geerligs was 70th, Christian Courser 76th, Steven Mosher 87th and Andrew VanBaal 91st.

Both the Wayland boys’ and girls’ will take part Saturday in the Allegan Invitational.
