The Wayland girls’ varsity cross-country team finished sixth for the second time in the O-K Gold Conference jamboree Wednesday. The boys finished seventh.

The Lady Wildcats had 159 points. East Grand Rapids, one of the top teams in the state, had 25, taking third through eighth places. Grand Rapids Christian had 58 and Forest Hills Eastern 74.

Junior Rylee Cronkright, fresh from her first sub-20 kilometer race last weekend, settled for 13^th place with a time of 22:04.86. Senior Zoe Antel was 36^th, freshman Haylee Jasinski was 61^st, Gracie Hasse was 65^th and freshman Sydney Hasse 103^rd.

The Lady Wildcats continue to compete without No. 2 runner Naomi Oosterhouse, who is injured.

Junior Ian Russell led the Wildcat boys by finishing 46^th with a time of 21:01.75.

Jarod Geerligs was 70^th, Christian Courser 76^th, Steven Mosher 87^th and Andrew VanBaal 91^st.

Both the Wayland boys’ and girls’ will take part Saturday in the Allegan Invitational.
