The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team captured its second dual match victory of the season and first in the O-K Conference with a 30-0 shutout over visiting East Grand Rapids.
The boys, however, fell 22-8 to the Pioneers.
The Wildcat girls took Baker game one to start the evening. In game two, there was no question who won as they rocked the house with a high game of 212.
Individual scores for the first match were Kendra VanKoevering 147, Haley Taylor 105, Lily Gates 128,
Isabella Harnish 194 and Kadence Bottrall 215.

“We have quite a few new kids this year and I usually notice a few more details with our girls,” said coach Eric Bottrall. “The one thing I did get lucky enough to notice is our brand new bowler, Lauren Healy. She rolled a strike every time I noticed her bowling.”
Boys’ coach Sherry Miklusicak said, “We started out in good form winning our first Baker game with a score of 147. We lost the second Baker and the Baker total as well.”
The Wildcats lost badly in game one.
“We need to hit the pocket or close to the pocket if we expect to pick any easy spares,” Miklusicak said. “We defeated ourselves in game one.”
Mark Musgrave and Alan Beggs did manage to take their points in this game.
Game two proved to be 161 pins improved. Taking points this game were Mark Musgrave and Alan Beggs again.
Beggs, who his coach said “is really stroking the ball well,” led the team with a 175.
