The Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team, ranked No. 7 in the state in this week’s Associated Press Class B poll, improved its overall season record to 8-0 with a tough 55-50 victory Friday night at Middleville Thornapple Kellogg.

Meanwhile, the Wildcat boys’ squad remained winless at 0-6 after a 59-44 defeat at the hands of TK.

The Lady Wildcats trailed by nine points at the half, but turned the tables to capture their first win in O-K Gold Conference play this season. The Trojans, with the loss, fell to 4-3 overall on the season.

Both the Wayland girls’ and boys’ teams will continue league play Tuesday at Wyoming, with the girls getting under way at 6 p.m. The Wolves boys are undefeated thus far this season.
