Wayland defeated visiting South Christian 27-3 Monday afternoon to lift its girls’ bowling dual match record to 7-1-1.

The boys’ team, meanwhile, lost to Sailors by the same score and their overall record sank to 2-6.

The Wildcat ladies swept the Baker games 159-131 and 174-94 to find themselves up 10-0.

Match one decided the win as Wayland took the next eight of nine points. Winning their match points were Brooke Bixler 128, Haley Taylor 171, Bella Harnish 147 and Kadence Bottrall 183.

Seven of Nine points were claimed in match two. Lilly Gates rolled a 118, Bella Harnish 187 and Kadence Bottrall 204 took their points and total pins for both matches and total pins to top it off.

Freshman Kadence Bottrall has been leading the OK Gold-Green Conference in average with a 197.81, match points won 15, and high game of 253. The Lady Wildcats also hold the high Baker game of 212 this season.

Player of the night for Wayland’s boys was Alan Beggs once again.

“No wonder he is our anchor bowler,” commented coach Sherry Rybiski Miklusicak. “He silenced his opposition with scores of 235 and 212.”

Beggs took both his match points this evening along with Jordan Fitzgerald taking one.

“Both Jordan and Alan have been rolling the ball very well,” Miklusicak explained. “Our boys were in both matches tonight and we only lost both by less than 100 pins. If you think about it, that is less than one spare per game. The final score makes it look like a blowout, but it was much closer.”

She added that the first Baker game was lost by only three or four pins.

“Experience will help us in the future,” the coach said. First-year senior, Geary Rookus continues to show improvement as he saw more varsity action tonight.”

Both the Wildcat boys’ and girls’ teams will be back in O-K Gold Conference dual match action at the Rock ‘N Bowl Lanes Wednesday afternoon when they entertain Wyoming.
