The Wayland girls’ soccer teamimg battled against one of the top teams in the O-K Gold Conference Monday night and came up just short in a 1-0 loss in overtime to South Christian.

Playing with few subs, “the girls fought their hearts out and just couldn’t quite finish their chances to score in regulation,” explained coach Ben Sleeman.

A quick goal into the first overtime period by the Sailors was all it took to send the Wildcats home with a road loss, which brings their record to 7-10-2 on the season (3-6 in the O-K Gold)

Paxton Granger made 13 saves in the contest while facing 14 shots.

The girls have their last game on the road at Ottawa Hills Wednesday night before they come home for a district first-round game vs Hastings Tuesday, May 31.
