The Wayland varsity volleyball teWHS volleyballam went 3-2-1 Saturday in the Portage Invitational and lost in the semifinal round of the Silver Bracket competition.

The Lady Wildcats defeated Dowagiac, Schoolcraft and Coloma, split with Hudsonville Unity Christian and lost to Okemos before dropping a 25-21 and 25-8 decision to Flushing in the semifinals.

Leading the Wildcats were:
• Leigha Morse – 86 assists, 6 aces, and 54 digs
• Chloe Coughlin – 24 kills, 3 blocks, and 25 digs
• Haleigh Adrianse – 23 kills and 19 digs
• Abby Merice – 36 digs
• Emily Johnson – 42 digs and 6 aces
• Taryn Coughlin – 43 kills.

Wayland Tuesday evening was swept 25-21, 25-21 and 25-14 in a three-set match against O-K Gold Conference oppoenent Forest Hills Eastern. The Lady Wildcats, however, registered their first O-K Gold dual match victory by sweeping Wyoming 25-21, 15-17 and 25-16.

Leading the Wildcats were: Anna Johnson – 16 assists and 4 digs; Leigha Morse – 15 assists, 3 aces, 6 kills, and 3 digs; Chloe Coughlin – 10 kills, and  Abby Merice – 10 digs and 3 aces

The Lady Wildcats now are 15-11-4 for the season overall.
