whs-girls-golf-teamThe Wayland girls’ varsity golf team finished the O-K Gold Conference season in fifth place after taking fifth Thursday in the league meet.

South Christian won the meet at the league title, checking in with a team score of 177 at Grand Rapids Christian’s home course. Christian was second in the last jamboree just one stroke back at 178, but the Eagles finished third overall in the final standings behind South Christian and East Grand Rapids.

Wayland recorded a team score of 201 to finish ahead of Middleville Thornapple Kellogg and Wyoming in the seven-team field.

The highlight of the Wildcats’ season was a school-record 165, good for third place in one of the seven Gold jamborees this fall.
