The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team shattered four records Wednesday during a 23-7 dual match victory over Hudsonville Unity Christian.
Perhaps the most compelling record-breaking performance was by senior co-captain Sydney Urben, who shattered her own single-game standard of 279 with a 290 and came up with a staggering two-game series record of 290+246=536, beating her old mark of 514.
Senior co-captain Marissa Bruinsslot remarked, “In case you aren’t a math driven person, that is 11 strikes in a row for one game!”
The team set two records with a high game of 976, drowning the old mark of 862, and two-game series 1889 (old record 1683).
The Lady Wildcats snagged six of the 10 points in the Baker games with a decent 150+209=359.
Top scores other than Urben’s clinic included:
• Bruinsslot, who won both her points with a: 196+215=411.
• Amber Beggs with a 198+126=324.
• Jessica Henderson with a 154+165=319.
• Makayla Konecny with a 138+160=298.
“We have a very deep and talented team who can obviously bowl out of their minds any day of the week,” Bruinsslot commented. “It’s not easy being us, but I am eternally thankful that I have the pleasure of having a team that shines this bright! I think that we’ve finally realized how astounding we actually are!”
The Lady Wildcats have finished second in one tournament and fourth in twop others and are undefeated in dual matches this season.
