Lady Wildcats now 4-0 going into holiday break

Wayland’s girls’ basketball team lifted its overall season record to 4-0 Friday night by getting past Holland Christian 51-44.

The Lady Wildcats were led by guard Marissa Ainsworth, who sank five three-point field goals and led individual scoring with 22 points. She bounced back nicely from Wednesday night when she was held to seven points by Hopkins.

Also bouncing back was senior pivot Addie Sikorski, who went from seven points Wednesday to 13 points Friday. Jordan Grevenstuk chipped in seven points and sophomore Charity Laker had six.

It was the first time this season Wayland has won by a margin tighter than double figures.

The Wildcats will play Byron Center at home Monday night and then take their holiday break.
