The Wayland varsity softball team is off to a rough start this season with a 1-3 overall record and many cancellations because of inclement weather and field conditions.

The Lady Wildcats Friday were blanked twice by Jenison, 3-0 and 5-0, in a non-league doubleheader. Chloe Coughlin, Chanlyn Commons, Sydney Urben and Chloe Coughlin each had one hit in the opener and Urben,
Kayla Reed and Lauren Chiaramonte had one hit apiece in the nightcap.

Wayland will play Grand Rapids South Christian today at the Sailors’ athletic complex in an O-K Gold Conference matchup. The ‘Cats will take a 1-1 league record into the contest.
