Wildcat boys, girls outroll depleted South Christian

The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team annexed its fifth dual match victory this season without a loss in surprisingly easy fashion Monday afternoon, 25-5 over South Christian. The boys captured their third victory this season at the same time.

“In what used to be tough competition for our Lady Wildcats turned into an easy win, as South could only field four players,” said coach Eric Bottrall.

Wayland took both Baker games with scores of 142-72 and 140-63. Since South Christian was a bowler short, the Sailors had to take zeros for two of the frames in each game.

Bella Harnish took her point in match one with a fine 214 game, as did Kadence Bottrall with an outstanding 238. The Wildcats also took total pins quite easily.

In game two, Madison Bottrall, Bella Harnish and Kadence Bottrall (217) took points, and again total was easy to win.

On the boys’ side, its was even more lopsided, 26-4.

“Our Baker games set the tone this afternoon with wins of 150-126 and 158-136,” said coach Sherry Miklusicak.

Carson Beck marked in 3 of 4 frames, as did Mark Musgrave, and the ‘Cats were up 10-0. They then took seven of the next nine points in match one to secure the win. Deven Gardner, Mark Musgrave, Stephen Harnish took their points and total by 100 pins.

Game 2 found Deven Gardner with the high score mens side with a fine 212. Also taking points were Mark Musgrave and Stephen Harnish

“We now find ourselves 3-0 in the O-K Gold and am hopeful we will continue winning! Even though we have found success, we will need to continue to improve, as I know we will see some tougher competition.”

The junior varsity bowled unopposed. High games were posted by James Stephens 145, Carter Decker 165 and Ashton Kasprowicz 173.

“Even though we had enough boys go out for bowling this year to almost start a league, we are having a hard time finding schools with enough players for a varsity team, let alone a JV team,” Miklusicak said. “It’s hard for our JV guys to get excited about competition when we just get to bowl against the same guys we practice with.”
