Wayland defeated neighborhood rival Hopkins 5-0 Thursday in a non-conference girls’ soccer matchup.The Wildcats, playing in their third game of the week, “put together arguably their best performance of the season and played outstanding team soccer from start to finish to see out a decisive victory,” beamed coach Ben Sleeman.Amanda Brown and McKenna Bruin both scored two goals and Kennedy Thelen recorded the other. Assists went to Thelen, Audrey Lepper (two), and Amanda Brown.

Lilly Bolliger made five saves in notching her fourth shutout of the season.

The win brings the Lady Wildcats’ record to 5-6 (2-5 in the O-K Gold Conference).

Wayland will travel to Wyoming Monday evening to resume league play, with kickoff at 6:45 p.m.
