The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team remained undefeated in the O-K Gold Conference standings with a 27-3 triumph Monday afternoon over Forest Hills Eastern and the boys’ outfit came through with a 21-9 victory.

Lady Wildcats’ coach Eric Bottrall, however, was disappointed with the fact it was yet another win over a team that didn’t field enough bowlers.

“It was another easy and uneventful win for our ladies as they faced TWO bowlers this afternoon,” the coach said. “Many of our opposing teams just can’t manage to get five girls on the lanes”.

Baker game one 157 – 44, Baker game two 138 – 50. Haven Baker, Madison Bottrall, Breanna Hyde, Bella Harnish, and Kadence Bottrall put Wayland up 10-0.

Madison Bottrall, Breanna Hyde, Bella Harnish and Kadence Bottrall took their points in match one as well as total pins.

Breanna Hyde, Bella Harnish (204) and Kadence Bottrall (212) took their points in game two.

“The ladies and guys should see some great competition against Zeeland tomorrow afternoon at home. They have always been tough, so it will be good for us,” Bottrall said.

Boys’ coach Sherry Miklusicak, after her crew won, said, “I thought we would have a tough match tonight. When I checked stats today I found that FHE and Wayland had the same average for Baker games. I was good with that. I also checked their team average and it was 75 pins higher than ours.

“I was worried about that, but knew we could win because that average didn’t mean a lot because we have been improving so much and we have great depth.”

Baker game one 142 – 137. Baker game two 147 – 133. Deven Gardner went 4 for 4 (he marked every frame).

“We were struggling with our spares again,” Miklusicak said. “This shot had a little more oil than we are used to. They just have to adjust a little bit more and they will get there.”

The Wildcats swept the board in the first round of matches and victory was guaranteed. Taking their match points were Mark Musgrave, Carson Beck, Chandler Caruso, Deven Gardner and Stephen Harnish.

With a win guaranteed, Miklusicak switched out for some younger bowlers to gain valuable experience.

“We kept the birthday boy Chandler Caruso) in and he rolled a high game of 188, taking his second point,” the coach said.W”il Dewing took his first varsity point with a 142 game. Ashton Kasprowicz showed good form as did Kyle VanEss and Juan Rodriguez.”
