Wayland drew Grand Rapids South Christian for its girls’ basketball opening round at 7 p.m. next Wednesday, March 6, in the Division 2 district tournament on the Sailors’ floor.
Hopkins, also in Division 2 at Otsego, drew Plainwell in the opening round, but will play Monday, March 4, at 7 p.m..
If the Lady Wildcats (14-7) are able to score their third win over South Christian (11-9) this season, they likely will face No. 1 seed Holland Christian (16-4) in the finals at 7 p.m. Friday, March 8.
Hamilton (9-11) and Kentwood Grand River Prep (5-9) drew the short straw to play the opening night at 6 p.m. Monday, with the winner taking on Holland Christian Wednesday at 5:30.
If Hopkins (8-12) can get past Plainwell Monday, the Lady Vikings will play No. 1 seed Otsego at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. South Haven (16-3) and Allegan (7-12) will meet in the other semifinal game Wednesday at 7.
The finals will be at 7 p.m. Friday, March 8.
Martin (13-7) will open its district play at 7 p.m. Wednesday meeting Zion Christian (14-6) in a rematch of Zion’s victory earlier this month.
Kalamazoo Phoenix (3-5) will play tournament host Lawrence (11-10) at 7 p.m. Monday, with the winner taking own Gobles (15-5) at 5:30 Wednesday.
Finals will be at 7 p.m. Friday, March 8.
