The Wayland girls’ soccer team kicked off post-season play Tuesday with a big win at home in the first round of the Class B district tournament, beating visiting Battle Creek Harper Creek 6-0.
Brinley Nieuwenhuis came up with three goals and Haley Thelen, Ashlyn Schafer and Ali Cutler each had one. Assists on the goals came from Nieuwenhuis, Ali Cutler (twice) and Brooke Larsen.
The Lady Wildcats will take on O-K Gold Conference champion Middleville Thornapple Kellogg at 7 p.m. Thursday at Plainwell High School in the district semifinals.
