Laura Glas has been named executive director of the Son-Life Camp and Retreat Center near Wayland, starting this summer.
She succeeds Hope Wassenaar, who died of breast cancer this spring. She has been part of SON-Life since 2006, serving multiple different roles.
The Board of Directors has been working on the Executive Director search since February.
“Moving forward is difficult as we continue to miss Hope, but we are thankful that Hope was able to affirm the selection of Laura,” a spokesperson said.
Laura’s education includes a bachelor of arts degree from Hope College and a master’s degree from Michigan State University. She has been a teacher for the past 10 years in North Carolina and Michigan.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys reading, sewing, crafting, board games and being outside.
