Wayland City Manager Josh Eggleston today announced the appointment of Lee Ann Clausen of North Muskegon as new city clerk.

Ms. Clausen, who succeeds the retiring Michelle Herman, will begin on Monday Sept. 14.

Originally from Fremont, where she graduated from high school. Ms. Clausen also has completed some coursework in business administration at Baker College. She has extensive experience with the City of Fremont serving on various boards and commissions such as the DDA Board, Baby Food Festival Committee and the Downtown Fremont Retailers Association.

Ms. Clausen served as deputy clerk and then city clerk for the City of North Muskegon for  five years. She most recently served as an elections contractor with the City of Norton Shores.

“Her experience will serve the City of Wayland well,” Eggleston remarked. “Ms. Clausen’s references described her as all-around great person and a hard worker. They said she is honest, caring, loyal and dedicated. They said she is engaging, proactive and wants to continue to learn new things to continually improve on herself and the organization.”

Kristin Engel has served as acting clerk since Herman retired in December.

There was no comment on where she lives now. Is she driving from North Muskegon every day to Wayland? What does this job pay? There were no qualified candidates within 25 miles of Wayland? Or is part of the background information lacking?
